    Because I'm still here after all these years I always hear "You're so lucky." I aways reply "If I was lucky, I'd never have gotten cancer."
    Cancer took my mom. My dad didn't live long enough to have any cancer find him. I was not surprised at all when I started to feel lousy, but I did feel a little betrayed by my body. No smoking, drinking, plenty of exercise...I should live forever, or so I figured.
    I was mostly surprised I was upright for so long. It is not a good thing to have a high threshold of pain when your body is trying to tell you something is wrong. When I was finally ready to keel over I had almost pushed too far, but the cancer stayed in one big tumor and left the rest of me alone.
    Now I am so healthy it's sick.
