to?  I'm no therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist...

We need their educated opinion here.

I could very easily claim anyone whom goes to a place of worship and prays to an unknown, unseen fictitious being in the sky would be a better indicator of mental instability.

I could also point out if you are not happy with society as it is and you protest or try to petition for re-dress of grievances, that's another indication of mental instability...clearly and obviously anti-social behavior and failure to adapt, right???

See how your position really works?

Is it conductive or productive to this discussion, honestly?

    •  I see what you're trying to do . . . (0+ / 0-)

to equate churchgoing and political activity with the "self empowering" fantasies of being able to kill lots of people (which is all assault rifles with large magazines are good for).

They are not the same . . . but that's how your position works . . . it's OK to want to kill people because, um, someone else goes to church or wants to fund a library?

A "hobby" of acquiring the tools of mass murder (which have no other legitimate purpose) is exactly what "this discussion" needs to be about.  It's crazy.  Denying that is not "conductive or productive" to solving the problem of crazy people with guns.

      Fake Left, Drive Right . . . not my idea of a Democrat . . .

unstable person, let alone if they are truly psychotic then it could be I need all the M&M's in the world because the sky is blue.

You assume that their reason is: "self-powering fantasies wishing to kill lots of people."

I'd ask, where did they get the idea and the training to pull it off?  Video games, violent movies and media.

If they truly are psychotic and they have some desire to kill lots of people, they will find a way.  Gasoline can be bought by anyone and can kill a hell of a lot more people.

You what the issue to be as you frame it, I cannot agree.  We Democrats must take responsibility for allowing the republicanism ushered in by Reagan to move the Overton Window so far we have what is termed "Blue Dogs"...What the "F"???!

Ones that defunded our social safety nets and gave no bid contracts to the wealthy elite to continue our Imperialism through unfunded wars.

You want a juvenile response to a 30+ yr problem in the making that we caused by pushing the first AWD in '94!  After 40+yrs we lost the House, you don't think it will happen again, and again and spread to every legislature in this nation?  We we be permanently out of power and then where will we all be?

        IN THE FUCKING GUTTER.

Hey but we'll have gotten the guns, right?

        Ughhhhh!

        •  I just re-read this, 4th paragraph down...sorry (0+ / 0-)

for the rambling, long days...it makes no sense to me after a good night's sleep...

I can't, for the life of me figure out what I was going to say.

          ;)

      •  No, I'm not equating anything. I'm saying if you (0+ / 0-)

want to measure someone's sanity, which neither of us  is qualified to do; how about we use a metric that I personally find to be a legitimate precursor for mental instability?  Believing in a fictitious character in the sky,  anti-social behaviors reflected in protesting and not being able to accept your delegated position within our society, ie. petitioning for redress...they all should be included in your definition of "insanity".

Once we take your position as valid and cross that line, any AND all of our rights become privileges granted, contingent upon someone else's arbitrary definitions of "sanity".
