  •  Taking out with a gun is likely to be safer (0+ / 0-)

for everyone except the active shooter as the armed civilian can engage more quickly from a stand-off position and while the shooter is still capable of firing.

It's rather absurd to expect a civilian to risk their life unnecessarily by unilaterally denying them a more effective means of engagement.

    •  Right. Because the public is SO well trained and (0+ / 0-)

      gee, they could never miss.

Can we stay in the realm of reality?

      •  How many of those armed counters (0+ / 0-)

        resulted in a bad shoot?

Look at the pattern of these active shooters. These people are cowards. They deliberately seek out 'gun free' areas. They either suicide, run or surrender at the first sign of armed resistance. The necessity for a sustained engagement is minimal.

Regardless of the intent of the shooter, it's still safer to target and engage the active shooter quickly. The longer they go unopposed, the higher the body count. Waiting for first responders to show and enter could be a death sentence.

        •  Well, take a look at what happened at the Empire (0+ / 0-)

State building then come back and repeat that hogwash! 9 innocent bystanders were hit by TRAINED LEOs, at least one of them emptying his/her weapon at close range and hot hitting the shooter twice. Now take Jack Smith that goes to the shooting range MAYBE once a year.

No thanks. I don't trust you or anyone else that makes these cases.  And furthermore, I oppose ALL public carry of ALL weapons concealed or not. The fact that you make the arguments you do make me more stubborn in my own positions.
