  •  Again, Boehner keeps wanting the WH to specify (5+ / 0-)

He is legislating by coaxing Obama into reading Boehner's mind, and with each iteration Boehner just barks back, "No, try again", as though a pampered aristocrat throwing unsatisfactory meals at the chef.

The progression of all "negotiations" should stop immediately. Obama may be baiting Boehner with regressive ideas like chaining SS to the CPI, but there's no way will the House GOP ever be appeased. There's no point in this exercise at which the House is going to find Obama's ideas acceptable. There can't be an optimum when the very definition of "balanced" is really all just a farce. We all know that. So the real motive is to get Obama to say aloud all the horrible budgetary plans the GOP is holding inside. I don't know if it can still be called a political win if we go over the cliff, but it's certainly the most desirable outcome at this stage.

i'm sure the facetoface negotiation contains words to the effect:  "well, you know what i will have to say in front of the cameras, don't you?"
      i'm ready.
