    Heh, I must confess the Luger has always had a guilty-pleasure dark sort of appeal. It's not an especially beautiful artifact - but its form is true to its nature: that the handgun is an instrument of control, and the mechanism of that control is threat of death.

      A 1917 DWM, matching serial numbers. Ostensibly. It cost about right for a run of the mill Luger, and I read that those generally were remanufactured prior to the start of WW II so it's not like it's really a collector's item.

      I finally got around to shooting it a couple of weeks ago. Feels like it is still new. Although the magazine is a modern replacement and needs some break-in time or else is not a very good one.

      Moderation in most things.
