    we must weigh what we get with the deal vs. what we get from going over the cliff.  up until this point, Krugman has been for going over.  Now he's saying possibly, just possibly not, depending on the details.

      I tend to listen.

      When we were ahead, people at DailyKos said to fight like we were behind. When we were behind, people at DailyKos said to give up.

      He sort of affirmed my belief that this isn't great but it's probably the best we can hope to get; that going over the cliff is not really such a great idea, and that it's a hell of a lot better than what we could have gotten in 2011.

      Those who think that if this deal means it wasn't worth getting President Obama re-elected should look seriously at how much the GOP wanted/wants to dismantle the entire social safety net, and as bad as this chained CPI is, it's a lot better than some of the other cuts they tried to extract in 2011 and at the start of this negotiation.
