  •  So it's ok to murder kids if we're at war? (0+ / 0-)
The diary was about drones and assasinations.  Of course the 5th ammendment doesn't apply in court.
So when FDR and Truman attack civilian targets intentionally killing civilians it's ok because we're at war?

When we stop putting leaders from the past up on pedestals and ignoring their flaws, we can start seeing our present leaders for what they really are.

    •  Are FDR and Truman still doing that? (0+ / 0-)

'Cause, you're kinda using the present tense.

    •  No it is not OK to kill kids in any conflict. (0+ / 0-)

But it is also a matter of making your kids a target. If you declare war on me and proclaim that your view or goal is to wipe me out and you kill my kids you inivite a total war, And then I respond with total war. But we would not be in this conflict at all if you had not declared war on me.

But where is the declaration of war in these drone attacks. If Pakistan had declared war on us the use of these drones would be slightly more acceptable. But there is no declaration of war. If we bombed the daylights out of Toyko without a declaration of war it would be wrong. If we declared war on Japan and firebombed Toyko that would be wrong. But Japan declared war on us. And so we fought a defensive war. In Afghanistan and Pakistan we are the aggressors.
