And no I'm not a pacifist, I'm a Vietnam Era Vet sick of War is a Racket for the corporations and banks.

Rule #8. . . if you support the Global War on Terror you don't get to complain about the national debt either.

"The Global War on Terror is a justification for U.S. Imperialism. It must be stopped."

....rather than invading Pakistan and inflicting the collateral deaths, on both sides, like there was in Iraq, the administration has decided to "surgically" remove the enemy using drones. Has it been that long ago that you can't recall the carnage of W's wars? I believe you're seeing the modern approach to warfare and you might as well get used to it.

Personally, I prefer that. the drone. approach......that's how I'd've preferred to have seen Saddam removed if removing him is indeed what had to be done (i don't believe it was).

I'm admittedly pacifist and I don't claim to know exactly what threats we're dealing with here, and why, but you don't's all classified....I don't believe it's happening for entertainment or enrichment any more though.

I do believe Obama has some justification for this where I never believed bush/cheny did. Bush said that the wars would be the next presidents' problem.....and they are.

We could be living in McCain's "bomb, bomb, bomb....bomb bomb Iran" world right now, ya'know?

Rule #7...If you supported the Iraq war, you don't get to complain about the national debt.

      •  "Surgically" removing first-responders, mourners.. (9+ / 0-)

Whether it's "surgical" or not, we are killing women and children, first-responders and mourners. We don't even count as civilians any post-pubescent boys who happen to be in the same "area" as suspected terrorists.

All of this creates more enemies, enemies that we again have to bomb, which creates more enemies, on and on...

We will never be able to eliminate all the people who wish us harm. It goes with the territory of being a superpower that plays a huge role in world affairs. We can, though, reduce the number of people who want to harm us. We can do it by not murdering their people, by demanding some level of accountability from Israel (as we do with the Palestinians) in the middle-east peace process, and by providing more aid and support to the region than death and carnage.

If a foreign country dropped a bomb or launched a drone strike that killed a member of my family, or just damaged my neighborhood, I would want revenge, regardless of whether it was accidental or not.

eat cows and then spouting out about what a devout Hindu you are.

This is laughable bullshit and treating you as if you deserve respect after saying it insult the very concept of honest discourse.

"Furthermore, if you think this would be the very very last cut ever if we let it happen, you are a very confused little rabbit." cai

        •  Wtf kind of comment is that?? (0+ / 0-)

...did you misplace it or something?

Anyway, the diarist is upset with the "double tap" tecnique of the drone controllers anyway....i'm totally in agreement with the diarist in that regard.

      •  We do not need to go to war with Pakistan. There (0+ / 0-)

are other levers. What you fail to realize is that this situation revolves around the Indo Pak War over Kashmir. A Pakistani army fighting an Indian army over Kashmir is Pakistan biggest fear. A diplomatic change in our relationship with India would have far reaching effects on our relationship with Pakistan. Eliminate military aid. Isolate the Pakistani officer corps from hanging out with Americans. Exclude Pakistan from the club of Western military powers. Just tell the Pakistanis to their faces that we do not trust them.

No war. Just withdrawal of support. The stability of the nation of Pakistan is built on its military. If the military is discrediteded the Pakistani government will fall. And we can rely on India to keep the Pakistanis down under their thumb.
