    The fact that Lanza played video games is basically just evidence that he was a male under the age of 40. It's like saying he used the Internet or something.

    Most studies find that gamers are as well adjusted as their peers and not more violent. The few that find otherwise really have to jump through hoops to show a connection or fail to controlling for confounding factors like gender. Obviously, predominantly male gamers are going to be more aggressive than predominantly female non-gamers.

    The media likes to point at provocative, ultra-violent games like Postal 2, which was terrible and nobody actually ever played. It's like saying The Human Centipede is representative of Hollywood movies.

    Not that there's not problems in the gaming community or in video games generally, particularly the portrayal of women. But maybe the time Lanza spent at the range with his mom is more relevant than the time he spent playing a fighting game (he didn't attack the school with swords and kung-fu).
