I wasn't trying to get into a pity contest.  This whole concept of cutting safety nets is just . . . I really don't have the words to explain.

If I had gotten a pension I wouldn't have refused it nor should anyone else.  The problem for me was I worked full time from 14 years old to 37 and went back to school when I thought a single income would get a boost from a college education.  But by the time I got out of school that is when healthcare started escalating in costs and out of pocket and 401K were the new retirement.  Add getting sick on top of that and basically I did full circle at coming right back to where I was.

I will never regret going to school and getting my degrees.  It was a wonderful accomplishment and the knowledge I gained was priceless.

The whole retirement plan for Americans is a mess.
