      embarracing.
he could not win, anyway. Others in MA would blush at voting in someone just 'cause he's famous in Hollywood. As the diarist says Brown would mock him for that and it'd work great.

      I wouldn't either.  Total disappointment.

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.

        This is news to me.

They tortured people to get false confessions to fraudulently justify our invading Iraq.

Along with the rest of the Senate Democratic Caucus, he's been AWOL on all the most important questions (Social Security, Medicare, taxes, etc.)

Congressional Democrats all talk a great game...before the elections. Afterwards, they go back to doing what's best for themselves.

Ok, this is what really pisses the ever living fuck out of me is when members on this community make bull shit comments about good Democrats like Franken.  Franken is and has always been STRONGLY OPPOSED TO PUTTING SOCIAL SECURITY ON THE TABLE!!!!  He supports raising taxes and preserving Medicare!  PAY THE FUCK ATTENTION AND STOP ATTACKING THE GOOD GUYS!!!  Don't make me fucking freak out in the comments again pal!

UP TOO?!?!  HOW'S HE'S BEEN A DISAPPOINTMENT AND MIA HUH?  Well he's fighting to keep jobs in America and protect your fucking privacy!

Also, Franken is in the Champion category on Social Security:

            https://pol.moveon.org/...

Now maybe you don't keep up as much but Franken only talks to Minnesota based papers and media because he has worked to brush off that celebrity, jokester image and instead paint himself as a work horse in the Senate for the people of Minnesota.  So don't you ever label Al Franken like that again!

    •  There are indications he's considering it (0+ / 0-)

He just dropped out of a movie that is scheduled to start filming this spring.  He famous, good looking, been active for years in democratic politics and is smart as hell. Watch any episode of Real Time he's been on, he'd eat Scott Brown for lunch.  He'd win.

Mass. special elections have to be between 145-160 days after Kerry resigns which will be late January/early February.  That'll place the election in the spring, do the math.

      •  If Kerry gets appointed late Jan/early Feb (0+ / 0-)

Then you're looking at a late June election.   That's technically summer.

I really think Affleck would have trouble organizing a well-run campaign in that short of a window.   He'd have to define himself to the small amount of Democratic voters to edge out Capuano or Markey(although some might just vote for him on his name alone) and then he'd have to define himself before Scott Brown defines him as a "out of touch" limousine liberal that doesn't care about the fishermen or pay attention to anyone beyond the 495 belt.   Affleck could make sure to hammer Brown on the Blunt Amendment and a few other votes he's taken that square with the GOP.  Of course, Affleck criticizing Obama won't help him since Obama is still popular here

Washington and Colorado said that you've got to legalize it. Hope the DOJ respects that.
