  •  MOST Israelis IIRC serve in the military (4+ / 0-)

    for 2 yrs

perhaps the average Israeli, as an aside, is much more competant than the average US civillian, with that kind of weapon

And I believe all Israeli teachers do not have guns. THta may have been in a settlement that is constantly attacked, as they are. OR when Israel had been under attack as it has been at various times.

    •  I don't get the training argument. (2+ / 0-)

2 years of military training makes you better at handling a weapon. Makes you more effective.  I don't see how it affects your probability of deciding to go take out a bunch of children. A gun owner who goes berserk is dangerous.  A better trained gun owner who goes berserk is more dangerous.

Although maybe two years of training would make someone less likely to shoot their own kid while pulling out of a gun store.

      •  There's a lot more regulation (1+ / 0-)

beyond just the service. A LOT.

An unsuccessful shoe bomb attack resulted in nine years of inconvenience for every flier in the country. It would be nice to think [this diabolical act] might lead to some similar inconveniences. --mrblifil
