  •  They need to be permanently (0+ / 0-)

attached to an intravenous sedative. the kind that keeps them permanently in a stupor or asleep.

The Democrats now own everything from the center right to the far left. the republicans and the filthy robberbarons occupy the extreme right fringe.

    •  Wow. Just wow. (0+ / 0-)

What's the difference between that and murder? Either way the victims don't wake up. How many millions of people who have never harmed anyone or broken any laws would you like to apply this Final Solution of yours to? I think you need 7 million to break the last record, sometime in the 1940s I think.

    •  Where do I sign up for this sedative (0+ / 0-)

or doctor-assisted suicide?  Yes, my mental illnesses have made me want to end it on occasion.  I should only be so lucky to get even the level of "care" you offer, because sadly there are not enough psychiatrists to treat even the well-insured and those obviously needing help.

Yes, many days I would be willing to beg for your "sedative" and even an overdose.  Yet I'm far more likely to self-injure out of my shame for having yet again misprocesed information, rather than hurt anyone else.

schizophrenia and depression are dastardly, even when well-treated.  I manage to hold down full-time gainful employment in the tech industry, even, because I somehow managed to bribe and fight my way into competent treatment.  But remove my access to that care and within weeks I'm floridly psychotic.

Where do you draw the line between "well-treated mental illness" (which can still worsen unpredictably at any moment) and "lunatics acting like lunatics"?  I assure you the line is narrower than you think.  Especially when the care is so difficult to access, even when one has insurance, and even in cases like mine where I want to comply with the treatment.

No, mental illness does not magically cause violence.  But regardless of whether it does the mental health of the population needs to be looked after.  The fabric of our culture seems to spit out lots of violent people.
