  •  I think this is why the NRA has been so quiet. (21+ / 0-)

They know that she and/or her son were members.  This destroys all of their pro-gun arguments.  If they attack now they will be hoisted on their own petard.  "Guns don't kill people. People, especially NRA members, kill people." I did a search for her possible membership, but came up empty.

I think the NRA leadership is hunkered down preparing a strategy to defend the organization when her/his membership comes to light.  I know it is just speculation, but their silence is so unlike the rabid honey badger of so called gun rights we have come to hate, I can think of no other reason.

Also I find it interesting that the organization that tells its members that it fights for their rights has suddenly and completely abandoned its primary role without explaining itself to those members.  If I were an NRA member, (I was 30 years ago for one year and quit.) I would be mad about being abandoned.

    I aim to misbehave.

Yes, and/or the subheadline, NRA member gets murdered by own NRA-approved assault weapon in own home by own son she trained.

Wayne LaPierre perhaps was told by his staff, "oh sh*t, the dead mother was one of our own active members!"

Perhaps knowing that, LaPierre & co. really have no clue how to spin this; If the dead mother was an active NRA member, then the Newtown tragedy is the epic fail of the NRA's core dogma on multiple fronts.

Such a talking point could destroy the entire NRA overnight!

I really hate to be pushing this point, it gives me the creeps, but I have seen NO ONE ELSE raise this talking point question anywhere!

I so want the NRA to be swiftly & entirely taken down!

Really, I hope this puts an end to their BS.  Unfortunately, the last time we had major right wing theories fail spectacularly (2008 crash), they just went further off the deep end with a new brazen platform of denial and illogic.  It's as if they said, "The sky is yellow, but even if you prove it isn't, we don't care; to hell with you, we're doing our thing anyway."

that is interesting since this is a first after these massacres.

The National Shooting Sports Association is located in Newtown.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...

They are a trade group for people in the shooting business- gun ranges, organizing shooting competitions.  They haven't commented much, but their own employees could have children in that school.  I find that even more tragically ironic than the mother being killed with her own guns.

Larry Pratt can't keep his mouth shut Gun Owners of America - and the more he talks the more insane he sounds.  'Continue - Mr Pratt'.  I want them to show all their crazy so we as a nation can point them out and keep their point of view front and center - to make it easier to get some common sense laws passed.
