I consider what might happen in the event of something like this happening at my school. And I would probably give my life for my students, at least I would like to think that I would. But one thing I know for damn sure, I don't want to carry a gun to school. And I do own guns, a hunting rifle and a shotgun that I use at the local range. What happens if someone got my gun and used it to hurt someone else? What if I accidentally shot a student "trying to protect them"? I am not a professional soldier or security officer. I am a professional teacher. If you want me to carry a gun, then I am not responsible for anything that might happen with it, remember you forced me to carry it. You better start paying me  a hell of a lot more. I have enough responsibility already, if you want to add that as a responsibility, you will need to start compensating me for taking guard duty.   Finally, I do not want to be liable or open to lawsuit if I accidentally hurt someone while trying to protect my children. Or worse, have to live with knowing that I was responsible for the injury or death of one of my students through an accident. No thanks.

    Be nice to each other.
