I have it on tape for over a year, but for some reason can't get in to it.

America never needed so much in the last election and got so little.

I love characters, and this one didn't really do it for me. I mean some people like Gus, Walter, Grigori, Maude, Billy and Ethel were cool, but I wasn't IN LOVE with any of them like I was with Jack and Aliena from Pillars of the Earth.

So basically, it read like a book on the buildup to WWI instead of a novel.

POTE was the best, but hardest book I have ever read. The cruelty was hard to read about. But I loved the way the RCC was depicted. Power corrupts.
I have tried to read the sequel, but they kill a dog, and it is the same cruelty all over again.

World Without End was good, but I didn't love the characters as much as I loved Jack. Jack reminded me of myself in so many ways that it was just awesome and made the book that much better to read. The comparable guy in WWE was decent, but he made decisions that Jack would never make, and I understand - he's a different character - I just didn't like the decisions.
