      Doesn't that demonstrate that you are as capable of making that choice as someone who isn't bipolar? And if not, do we restrict all people with bipolar disorder? How much greater are the odds that someone who is bipolar will commit a violent act using a gun against another person than someone who isn't?

        Which makes the second question moot.  

        We do not know how much greater the odds are.  Are responses to violence and crime and mental/behavioral illness have been punitive and controlling for a long time.  

        We are in a new phase of dealing with these issues, I think.  We are collecting data and thinking about prevention. There is lots of stuff we do not know.
