The whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate this evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer. Bertrand Russell

Note: This is "bread" in the sense that banana bread is bread; I think it's more cake than anything.

      2 c. flour
      1/3 c. cocoa powder
      1 tbsp. baking powder
      1/4 tsp. baking soda
      1/2 c. peanut butter
      1 2/3 cup milk
      2 eggs
(opt.) 1 cup mini chocolate chips, but it's rather gilding the lily IMO.

Grease and flour your bread pan VERY well or better yet, line with parchment paper. This WILL stick if given the least opportunity.

Mix first four ingredients and set aside. Work the milk into the peanut butter, beat in the eggs, and then add the dry ingredients. Add chips if using, stir well, and pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Rest ten minutes, then remove from pan and cool completely on a rack.  Makes one standard-size loaf.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
