  •  of course, I am not denying that (5+ / 0-)

this was a discussion of how the change in the index of inflation from RPI to CPI will affect pensions and disability benefits of those on SS.

The cuts in general benefits will also affect the elderly here in terms of local benefit cuts providing transport, cuts to the NHS affecting home nursing. Carers are losing benefits under the cuts to Disability Living Allowance (becoming Personal Independence Payments or Allowance soon). The people primarily affected by the cuts are the poor, the working poor, the disabled and women. I have written about this often on this site. This is a very specific discussion about a very specific policy. But note that all benefits in the UK are now pegged to CPI rather than RPI and they have cut housing benefits as well. 30 fire stations in London alone will be cut, somehow I do not think that it is Kensington and Chelsea that will lose services. NHS services are under attack by these swine who swore that they would protect the NHS, privatisation is not protection.

I am not supporting indexation, I am trying to demonstrate that it is a cut affecting the elderly and disabled and that it is a right-wing cut also.
