    I wouldn't celebrate it at all (and I don't celebrate the religious aspects) if it weren't for family.  I do enjoy giving presents, and I appreciate the opportunity to get together with family, but honestly I'd be fine getting together with them on a mutually convenient weekend and just working through the holiday.  The solstice/yule is what matters more to me, and I am taking Friday off for it this year.

      I don't have to take it off. (wry grin)  But I do have plans most of that evening.

      I'd actually be more inclined to take off the 22nd, because part of my ritual involves staying up until the sun rises again.

      When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
