  •  ThanxAl - Is he the best D's can do (0+ / 0-)

in W. VA?  I know the state isn't a bastion of progressive thought (that's putting it lightly) but can any real Dem challenge and win? Or is he to the left of everyone else?

    •  No, not at all. Our other Senator is Jay (2+ / 0-)

Rockefeller, who isn't batshit crazy in love with the crazy right like Joe is. I don't always agree with Jay, but he's not a DINO like Manchin.

My great hope is that it was the cycle that put him there - Joe rose as the Tea Party was gaining national attention. Hopefully they and he will tank and we'll get a true progressive. WV voted overwhelmingly for RMoney, so my hope is tempered by logic.

      They won the class war

      •  is Jay an endangered species? (0+ / 0-)

I don't know your states politics but I read Jay may be in danger or may retire.

America could have chosen to be the worlds doctor, or grocer. We choose instead to be her policeman. pity

      •  Yeah but- (0+ / 0-)

Jay survived voting for Brady and AWB back in the 90's but the state has moved even farther to the right now, especially on guns.

There is a good chance that Shelley could knock Jay off based on a vote for new gun control IF he runs for reelection.

Here is the problem in WV I think. The dems have not done a lot to help the blue collar worker since they embraced the "new democrat" corporate friendly thing.
Less people working at gov't jobs, less people working on gov't construction projects. So if the dems aren't going to give them anything they are going to vote their guns.

Everybody thinks this is a huge chance for gun control to pass and it is. In the heat of the moment.

However it is also a huge chance for the dems to lose the senate and not win back the house.
