  •  What does the GOP have that pushes (4+ / 0-)

Obama to over capitulate?  This question nags me.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

Which they can use to keep on bringing things to the brink over and over. And unlike the tax fight, public opinion is on their side on that because people don't understand how it works. The reason the president wants a deal so badly is to take that out of contention so they can't keep raising it inch by inch and making him cut more and more to get it raised. They were demanding $1 in cuts for every $1 they raise the ceiling by...if the president can make a deal now that takes it out of play or at least does so for 2 years they don't get to play that game.

      •  That game? (0+ / 0-)

And we, the people, are the hostages of the game, while the Military Industrial Complex is getting fatter and fatter.

My blood might be boiling.  I might be getting too old for all this fighting.

        Off to take a break.

        Great information, btw.

Once again, President Obama seems to be on the verge of folding a winning hand.

Social Security and the Obama Cave-In

Especially foolish is the cut in Social Security benefits, disguised as a change in the cost-of-living adjustment formula. Before getting to the arcane details of the formula, here’s the bottom line.

The proposed change will save only $122 billion over ten years, but it will significantly cut benefits for the elderly.

We will soon learn what Obama, the progressive community, and congressional Democrats are made of.

I know several of these stalwart progressive reps are lame ducks now, alas; I don't know whether the incoming class will fill (or exceed) the gaps they will leave.
