  •  What the heck does Allergywoman eat? (10+ / 0-)

It's mac and cheese day at the Allergywoman ranch. Perch. Whatever.

Of course, Allergywoman is allergic to milk and wheat and most things that normally go into mac and cheese. So this is Allergywoman's main food of the day.

Tear apart two strips of bacon. Add to a pot on the stove and heat around medium-high or 5. Meanwhile, chop five green onions. Add to pot. Chop roughly 6 ounces of turkey ham and fry with the rest. Add a sprinkling of ground ginger. Chop one medium Braeburn apple and add to the mix, stirring. Add 2 cups of chopped broccoli, stir, raise heat to 6. Add garlic powder, mix well.

Meanwhile, measure 1/3 cup pomegranate juice and 2 cups water, with a splash of tamari sauce, in a liquid measuring cup. Once other ingredients are thoroughly sauteed, add the liquid to the pot and bring to a boil. Add all pasta from a Gluten-Free Alfredo mac and "cheese" mix by Road's End Organics. Bring back to a boil, cover, lower heat to 4. Cook for eight minutes, stirring thoroughly once.

Remove cover. Measure 1/2 cup coconut milk, add with sauce packet from Alfredo mix and a sprinkle of additional nutritional yeast. Serve, salt as desired.

    •  Allergies - ugh. (9+ / 0-)

Red Dye #40. Almonds, peanuts, tree nuts, milk, chocolate, oranges, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, oats, chicken, wheat, rice, oats, clams, celery...

I may have forgotten some, but those are my food allergies.

I have given up on trying to completely avoid them. Luckily, none are life-threatening (except seeds, nuts and popcorn because of the diverticulosis), but some of them make me very sick.

So no nuts, no seeds, no red dye. Everything else I eat anyway, and just deal with the consequences.

Seriously - who the hell is allergic to chocolate? That just stinks. :)

    •  Nothing I eat will kill me. (1+ / 0-)

It will give me a migraine for a couple days or set off an episode of IBS, and those take a week to resolve, but it won't kill me.

I still don't eat those things.

Unfortunately, those things are most fruits, a broad swath of vegetables, beans, and alcohol.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
