is technically (well, legally) a no-pet place.

But my illegal cat has already caught two mice that I know of for sure, and perhaps three.  (The corpse was laying in the bathroom when I got up in the a.m. but certainly wasn't there when I went to bed.)

It probably wouldn't stand up in court, were I to argue that I must have a cat b/c the landlord doesn't do anything to reduce the rodent population...

but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

In some districts, I believe they are legally classified as feral animals. I ask out of almost total ignorance of pet laws.

is just about as not-feral as a cat can be.  But I know what you mean about the law concerning cats. Not sure what it is in any given locale.
