    •  Actually Happened In Cascade Mountains (4+ / 0-)

On Thursday two people were killed when their car was crushed on a mountain highway when a fir tree fell on their car due to snow load.  In the past week, in some locations, they have gotten as much as 2 ft of snow in 24 hours for multiple days in a row in the Cascades and Olympics and several roads have been closed for hours while trees were cleared.  We also have the deepest snow base in the country (162 inches) right now if you are into skiing but watch out for the angry giant Christmas trees falling on you.

But we actually have some white stuff on the grass that is well-shaded here near Chicago, IL! Very unusual for us to have seen so little snow/rain this year. It is good that elsewhere there is snow, even if it is the snow that should have made it here but we were way too warm.
