  •  I am actually very pleased (11+ / 0-)

with President Obama, and this from a Hillary Clinton supporter in 2008.
I wish he could do everything that I wanted.  But I am with him for the fact that he stopped the hard right swing dead in its tracks and
    Did away with DODT
Implemented the start of universal health care (which even the Clinton's couldn't do)
    Pulled us out of Iraq
and if you look it up, so much more
No, he isn't FDR.  He never claimed to be.

    •  Yeah, I have to agree with this. (4+ / 0-)

I would have been fine with either (H. Clinton or Obama).

Looking at Obama's changes over the presidents in my life time, he's clearly top President that I've experienced. B. Clinton was super disappointing by comparison, and of course Dubya was a train wreck.

Politicians are the epitome of disapponting to a lot of people. When they do "OK", that to me is "Super Great" given my own low expectations of our political body.

I get getting annoyed with his decisions, but flipping out seems extreme. What people here call "caving," I call "tactical errors."

Besides, no one will have a greater legacy as a caver than Harry Reid. He's gotten better over the last year or two, but he used to be the worst for it.

Frankly I think he dropped the ball on healthcare. My girlfriend still doesn't have health insurance, and the current health plan doesnt' help her - at all, and she can't afford it. We need medicare for all.

Everything else? I think he's doing pretty great. Though yes, I'd like to see richers pay out the nose, and would rather see the tax cuts lowered to $200,000 than raised to $400,000.

But just think about all the other great things he's done.

Medicare for all would have been much better, but could not have been passed by the existing Senate, and maybe even the house.

Does your girlfriend make too much for Medicaid? There should be a subsidized program before too long, tho' I know that any time lag, as far as health care is concerned, is too long.

"There's nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires." - President Obama

        •  Yep, she's in the hole between Medicaid and (0+ / 0-)

not making a living wage to be able to afford super expensive non-employer coverage.

I have to cover her part of the rent if she has an emergency (like car troubles), but she's working hard.

She'll be eligable for at least some form of coverage in Frebruary.

It's because she's technically a temp, so she gets her coverage from her temp agency. If she gets hired into the company, she'll be able to access their likely better program.

To be fair to the agency and the company, it's one of the better paying agencies by far, and the job is a good job. But it's still not a "living wage."

Thankfully so far we've been lucky. Compared to a lot of other people, we don't have a lot to complain about.

But we're one catastrophe away from being in a really bad situation.

And that's America when you're not filthy rich, sadly.

Do wounded colonists have to pay Dr. Crusher when they are beamed onto the Enterprise? I thought we were a civilized, modern society.
