    to the level of a quibble but I would choose another term besides "calling a spade a spade".  Granted the original term had nothing to do with race and its origin dates back centuries with examples too early for them to have racial connotations, at the same time, the popular understanding of the term for some people has morphed so it is a racial term now.  Just for discussion, some sources on the topic:

    As I said, I may be too sensitive to the term and the last thing I wish is an uproar over the term, but I think the shift in meaning is worthy of observation, if not discussion
