  •  Hubby and I were surprised (14+ / 0-)

that both Lapeer and Genesee Counties shut down their schools, but the problem in our school system was real.  Two boys age 15 and 16 have been put in detention and the three houses that were searched had credible items in them to back up the threat.

Thank goodness some child heard and told.

This makes me sad and I am glad hubby and I are retired.

When kids are afraid to go to school...

Another school just north of me had a problem last week.

It's something that won't just go away after a few extra days of holiday break, though.

If school administrators, parents, school boards, communities and government would use that extra time off to begin the process of taking some sane steps to do what can be done to stop the madness, the longer school break could actually be more than an extended vacation.  Otherwise, they're just kicking the can down the road.

Unfortunately we can't count on the MI legislature to be the  responsible, courageous and sane leadership that we need right now.
