  •  Still don't get it? (0+ / 0-)

We aren't, or at least shouldn't be, enemies. There is an enemy out there, and be assured it revels in our inability to get along.
I don't see my appeal to civility or my call to stay focussed on the real enemy of the nation as being anything that should cause irritation to you.
We can have an inclusive attitude with a long term goals or we can run around like mice seeking another piece of cheese.

We also don't have to agree, even about the president or the relative worth of the Democratic contingent in Congress.  Civility is far less important to me than a mutual willingness to debate questions honestly, and not fall into lazy rhetorical habits that foster division without furthering understanding.    This is politics, and will never be a polite bridge social.

We share many goals, but have very different views about how best to achieve them.  Our different views don't have to be mutually exclusive, if we let each other work in the ways that seem best to us.  But I see much less willingness on the part of partisans to let critics do their thing than I see among critics to let partisans do theirs.  I don't believe it a symmetric problem, though the problem does exist to differing degrees on both sides.  I'd be happy to let the GOTV fans do their thing, and let the Tiger Beat photo fan diaries go by.  I only wish that critics could have a substantive discussion of the issues where we're unhappy with the party and what we ought to do about it, without a blizzard of trolls doing their best to disrupt the conversation.  Can't even remember the last time I saw that happen.
