  •  He would lose 49 states. (8+ / 0-)

It's not that I disagree with him philosophically, but, honestly, he would lose 49 states.

One other important point: It's easy being Bernie Sanders. He probably has no aspirations outside of running statewide in Vermont, arguably our most liberal state. As a result, he can speak his conscience without worrying about political repercussions.

When you're president -- or even a candidate for the office -- you have to appeal to a broad demographic.

So, let's assume that Sen. Sanders threw his hat in the ring for 2016. And, for the sake of argument, let's say he started getting some traction or early buzz.

Guess what would happen? Your sainted Sanders would begin sounding a lot like a standard-issue Democrat.

It's easy being Bernie Sanders. It's a lot more difficult being President of all the United States.

How about I believe in the unlucky ones?

    •  That's a really fair and realistic take... (0+ / 0-)

...on a prospective Sanders run... And yes, the Very Serious People in the Village would have a cow and deploy their best undermining strategies if he announced... But you know what? I just TRUST Bernie. And if the ongoing class war against the working classes continues, maybe Bernie or someone like him will have a chance in 2016, or someday.
