Founder of Home Depot caught during a conference call telling business owners that they should be fully and financially supporting the GOP and making disgraceful comments about PBO and Democrats.

No Home Depot, no Menards for God's sake, maybe the individually owned Ace Hardware, or maybe Dorn but I don't even know what their politics are.

And no Culvers, no Shopko, no Miller (which I probably wouldn't buy anyway) no Metcalfe's, and I shouldn't go to Woodmans but I still do...

      •  I go to Woodmans with no regrets (0+ / 0-)

but I do check with the employees when I see them to make sure they're treated right.

As for harware, I go to my local Ace and thanfully can get any stuff I need (like furnace filters) and carbinators there along with other supplies for my Soda Stream and don't have to rely on other, more suspect retailers.

It makes shopping more difficult, but it's better to know where our money is going.

    •  It's Not Alays Simple (0+ / 0-)

The co-founder of Home Depot made a couple seriously evil comments and I crossed then off the list. To me, the guy seems to drool hate and radiate snottiness.

Then I found out he had sold the company. Put them back on the okay list?

This is where I apply a sort of Sins of the father bit of thinking. The guy very likely hired people like himself to fill the other executive slots, as well as major regional managers and so on. How likely would it be that this customer/middle-class hating greed machine would hire a Liberal for a top slot? Not hardly.

So when mister one percent sold the company it was, and probably is, populated by like minded whackadoodles.

I don't know that Lowe's is any better, but they haven't raised any red flags with me, so they get all my business.

The employees tell me they get decent wages and benefits and yes, they're always very helpful.  It costs a little more than the big box stores and, while I watch my pennies, I think it's worth it to get questions answered by people who really know what they're talking about or will find someone who does.
