  •  Problem is (0+ / 0-)

Beef is bad for the environment (pork is worse).

Don't get me wrong, I love a good burger, but had to stop eating red meat because of inhumane raising/slaughtering conditions, and it is bad for me, AND it is extremely wasteful of land and water (the latter being especially poingniant in Texas, with the drought and all).

I stopped eating seafood partially for the reasons the OP stated, also because of overfishing, and there's that whole we-contaminated-the-entire-pacific-but-nuclear-is-safe crap to consider (ProTip: there're no safe exposure levels, as it is cumulative).

So I'm down to fruits, veggies and chicken. I'll eventually give up chicken, just need to watch that horrible burning-off-the-beaks video a few more times...

Best thing is a) it is a healthier diet, and b) unprocessed is HELLA cheaper than food-in-can/box/bag/tube!

I never cook beef at home. Only eat it out and even then seldom. Same with seafood.

Chicken is the best of the meats in most ways. I have seen a different assessment of pork than you (even though I'm Jewish) suggesting it is between beef and chicken so next to chicken pork is our default. I'd be interested in what source you have for pork being worse than beef.

Mostly use, in my cooking, meat as a seasoning rather than a main part of a meal and several days a week don't have it at all. But eating out we tend to treat differently.
