  •  What's worse is that Social Security (11+ / 0-)

is self funding, has nothing to do with the deficit or debt, and that Chained CPI was offered up by PBO.

People are really, really angry already that SS was offered up and even more so when they realize that SS doesn't use inflation numbers specific to senior citizen but the general population numbers.  Seniors spend more of their income on health service and meds which is not reflected in the inflation rate overall.

God willing and the plutocrats don't take it, I'll be getting my first SS check in a couple of months.

I have a long way to go to get to mine...  I just turned 53 and my youngest won't be out of college until I am 64...

Injuries, wear and tear from nearly 40 years of nursing, and Scott Walker with his RW crapola and crony management when he was Milwaukee County Executive were enough to make me pack my camel and leave.  Been on a pension since waiting for SS eligibility to improve my monthly income.

I hear you about those college costs.  When I went to a public university in the late 60s, early 70s, 70% of the cost was from the state.  Currently it's 30%.

I was able to get a great education and, because of that, pay higher taxes on the money I earned with a better salary.  Paying a good chunk of my education earned the state decades of my higher taxes (I don't complain about taxes - ever).  And, hahaha, the university system did a survey recently about why students leave the state after college.  Don't they realize they feel little loyalty after being shafted on their tuition costs?

Today, Republicans have it ass-backwards.  We should make public universities accessible and affordable so kids can go and graduate without a mountain of debt.  After graduation, I spent money on apartments, furniture, a new car, etc. which stimulated the economy and kept things humming.  Todays students pinch pennies to pay their loans.  And the economy suffers (so do great parents like you who foot the bill).

is republican revenge. Because so many Seniors vote Democratic.

I went to vote on a Senior Center bus this Presidential election. There were 11 of us counting the driver.

It took over an hour and a half from the time we left my apt and got everyone, to get to the polls that are only 15 minutes away. Seniors are very determined people.

Generally we're Democrats, like our Parents before us.

We were taught; that, the Democratic Party, is the Party of the People and the republican party, is the party of the rich.

We need to keep electing more Democrats, everywhere, every time!

gop is trying to blame Pres and Dems for this fiscal cliff nonsense (as they always have future elections in mind), and they don't care what they have to do to accomplish their goals.

Psychological manipulation is a type of social influence that aims to change the perception or behavior of others through underhanded, deceptive, or even abusive tactics. These r politicians have had their way for too long.

Tell them NO; Pres, (as I'm guessing you're already planning to). I know how you operate.

Tell them NO about this too Pres

to pay for the Bush tax cuts and the wars. Now conservatives want to stiff the SS fund. 2.4 trillion is owed to the trust fund by the Federal Government and paying it back will require a tax hike. So cutting benefits (chained CPI) is a way to avoid paying that debt.

Al Gore's concerns about Social Security proved true. And how the media and Republicans laughed at him and his lock box. And the fuzzy math. Because it is good to be stupid.
