    been better off to take a weaker bill that didn't attack just about every vulnerable group in the country.

    But they are idiots, so...

      As I said in the midst of all the handwringing, proposing tax cuts for the rich removed one of the few reasons the GOP has for existence.  Apparently enough in the caucus agree that they couldn't pass a standalone tax cut for everyone but the rich: they had to load it down with all sorts of bogus "balancing" bullshit that nobody really believes anyway.

      One piece of free advice to the GOP: Drop the culture wars, explicitly.

        The superrich are propping up the GOP.  It's the most important constituency, and all it cares about is taxes, and when the GOP proposes to raise them....
