    •  I believe you are correct. All the commotion of (7+ / 0-)

      about Plan B, and even more ridiculous companion billing abolishing the alternative minimum tax, reducing estate taxes, reducing food stamps, etc. are just posturing to provide cover from the general public and pander to the right wing extremists in his own Party.

      Why would he be doing this unless he realizes he can not bring a large section of his own party to the table no matter what reasonable concessions will make.

      So, he has to create a backdrop, probably with the knowledge that 25 or more House Republicans will abandon him and vote with Democrats in January.

      But, if he know that, then strategically, wouldn't it make more sense for him to free them to vote their conscience rather than look week and loose power?  

      So, this explains the second companion bill of right wing sop, and red meat.  To consolidate the conservative wing behind him.
