Probably the single most effective thing we could pass would be a high-capacity magazine ban. But I'm curious about other feedback as well. Agree or disagree, but please let us at least be civil together.

I understand the thinking that, at least on the surface, that a magazine capacity limit would 'limit the carnage' that a lunatic could inflict.  I don't agree that it would be effective for a couple of reasons.  One, when faced with a capacity limit, a criminal will simply carry more magazines (as the Columbine shooters did) and it takes only seconds to exchange an empty one for a full one.  Two, as with any form of legislation, it would only affect the law abiding and a criminal would either use a modified or pre-ban magazine without a bit of concern regarding the legality.  The assumption that given enough time that a ban would reduce the availability (to the criminal) is also false as a the magazine is amongst the most simple of devices in the gun to make or modify such that restricting the commercial manufacturers would not mean that these items don't exist.
