there are good ones and bad ones.

I know quite a few good cops.  People I would trust with my life.  But I have met a few who I would not trust as far as I can throw this planet.

    In California.

Some cities are good about weeding out the ... weeds, and some are not.  Oakland is pretty bad.  Vista is not stellar.  But some towns are not all that bad.

The ones I trust are not the ones that would do that.  QED.

And you seem to be misinterpreting it.  It's not YOUR buddies who are beating you senseless in the scenario, its your buddy's fellow officer who is beating you senseless.  Do you trust your buddy to intervene on your behalf or do you expect he will, like every one cop we read about, stand aside and not intervene to stop his fellow officer from beating you senseless?

And if you do believe he will intervene, why do you believe it, despite all the evidence to the contrary?

people in any line of work. I don't think we should be unreasonable about such an innocent statement.

Others have simply gotten old. I prefer to think I've been tempered by time.

            •  And I don't trust ANY of them anymore (4+ / 0-)

because they will not throw out the bad apples in their midst.

This is one of my great Freedoms... to avoid all situations where police might be present. I also have to fully comply with their orders, even if I can't hear them, or understand them, or if they are blatantly illegal, the officer MUST be obeyed. If I don't act like a trained circus animal, I risk death by taser, choke hold or bullet.

Some "free" society, more and more like fascism every day.

            is a failure to communicate.

You appear to be coming from the stand that ALL cops are bad cops.  That there is no room at all in any police force anywhere for cops that are not bad or corrupt or humane.

I disagree.  I know cops that are not the brutes you make them out to be.  Just because you do not know them does not make them brutes.

You also insist that cops will beat me senseless.

That has never happened in my nearly 60 years on the planet.  Why should I expect it now?

Here's some news for you, most people in the emergency room tonight didn't expect to be there either.
