really hard.  I don't have the energy for it, but I was thinking that if I did a restaurant, I would emphasize local foods and recipes, but that's just another fantasy I suppose.

You have exactly 10 seconds to change that look of disgusting pity into one of enormous respect!

      •  he's gettig rich selling burritos to chileans (3+ / 0-)

His first restaurant is "California" food: Burgers Tacos burritos, Sandwiches Salads. Its also a Sportsbar with big screens and all, in a huge old 3 story mansion in downtown Santiago.
He creatd the orginal menu himself, including cooking every item several times to get the price right.  THATS the most important part, getting the price right, you can sell the best food in the world and still go broke! (you can also sell crap and make money)
It was a huge hit!! A gold mine, they're really raking it i on that one alone. Its in guidebooks now. Its real popular.
(I'd tell you the name but he asked me not to post it on political sites and I understood.)
SO Last year they started another restaurant right next door. They got a really good deal on the rent, less than half of what the California restaurant pays. Plus it has a "venue" with dance floor. this is an "Asian Fusion" restaurant (think: Pf Changs)
Its starting to make money too, tho not the rate that the flagship is doing yet. he's also looking into other opportunities, like a sandwich shop chain.
My son got a split degree in Businesss and Spanish. Its really satisfying to me that he's getting so much out of his education.

BTW, I go ALL over Chile----unarmed. (and everyplace else. I have a CCW but never carry it)
