    occurred in Congress, and I was writing about what led up to the convention.

    I get the sense that maybe you wanted to correct me more than read the article.  Sorry you didn't like it.

    Sigh.  I think I'm done with this place.  Between connection issues specifically with this site and everything else, it's just not worth it.

      This is why I don't write diaries.  There is always someone who will come along, who hasn't necessarily taken the time to write on the subject, but will be happy to tell you why your contribution is inadequate.

      Litho is entitled to note the serious errors in your history of the Federalists, which is an error-laden simplified version of an already skewed traditional textbook account (Hamilton bad, Jefferson good).  Your point about how parties die is one worth writing a diary about and it is a shame that you did not have more accurate research.  I don't think the Republicans are dying like the Federalists did and like the Whigs did, but there is always hope.  Don't give up on further diaries martianexpatriate.  The community needs fresh ideas and dialogue and debate.
