Schools with drug and gang problems already have armed deputies onsite.  "Nice" suburban schools do not, and those parents don't want armed guards turning their safe environment into a police station, or worse, a jail.

They're armed camps when they serve poor communities, particularly when those are heavily communities of color.

Question is, are the parents asking for this or are the guards and locks and other jail-like features being forced upon their children by the school board or city or state officials?  Turning school into an apprenticeship for jail doesn't exactly encourage scholarship.
