If you live in a state like mine, Florida, it is now against the law for any county or municipal government to pass a gun law or ordinance stricter than one the state legislature passed.

Your idea is good for most places, but the gun nuts beat us to the punch here and possibly in other places.

    •  They would probably (0+ / 0-)

pass in more liberal jurisdictions, but criminals and crazy people live in those places too. If a city required all bullets had to be bought at the local police station, where an armed officer stood there and sold you the bullets,... more then a few gun crimes would be prevented as the many probably would not go in too buy them ( if they had something to hide or bad intentions). Yes, places like Florida won't allow it, but the more local roadblocks you can throw up across the country, it will all have a cumulative effect.

My point is that larger, namely federal action is needed. What good are local gun laws when one can possibly just drive to the next town and get whatever they want?
