armed citizens have successfully defended themselves and others. The available data does not show armed citizens routinely shooting the wrong person, or wounding innocent bystanders, or shooting very many people, period, just as most cops will never fire a weapon in the line of duty.

One size does not fit all.

      successfully defending themselves or others?
Or those who hit the wrong person?
We might have stories, but is there data?

Not sure what data is collected or required to be collected or even considered newsworthy beyond the local area. Another day, another death. They don't go national

        •  Just looked at the linked site - a hodge podge (0+ / 0-)

of data, etc. Below is part of 'About Us' for the site:

"James D. Agresti, the president and primary researcher, holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University and has worked as a designer of jet aircraft engines, a technical sales professional, and chief engineer of a firm that customizes helicopters. He is the author of Rational Conclusions, a highly researched book evidencing factual support for the Bible across a broad array of academic disciplines.

Stephen F. Cardone, the vice-president, holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brown University and has 20+ years of private industry experience in corporate management, operations, logistics, accounting, and customer service."

IMHO - not valid credentials for analysis of public policy data.

          •  They aren't analyzing anything... (0+ / 0-)

it's an aggregation of various data from other sources, with links to the sources. They seem at least to have no agenda.

            •  I disagree- 'Baffle em with Bullshit' is an agenda (0+ / 0-)

The way I read the data presented is that gun controls don't work; the data was all jumbles & compared different things that aren't comparable, & kept repeating that gun control laws didn't help make things safer. Comparing different places & different time periods is not valid.

    •  I understand the available data, isn't available (8+ / 0-)

The bunker patriots have intimidated ATF and CDC into squelching data regarding gun use and abuse.  No real data needed; interferes with myths and legends.

All part of "Government is the problem" marketing.  Reagan wasn't a cowboy, he just played one on TV. I'll be back Schwartzenegger never saved the planet.  Jack Bauer 24 hours never happened.  Hollywood casting sold eyeballs to peddlers, dreams to voters.
