From my understanding, they have a police force, but there aren't live weapons all around. It's not a forward base in a war zone.

I just want to make sure we're the ones to pick up apparent weaknesses before they come up "en flagrante".

    •  right, the Army is into strict gun control (2+ / 0-)

everything about keeping and bearing arms in the military is very strictly controlled, even in war zones.

America could have chosen to be the worlds doctor, or grocer. We choose instead to be her policeman. pity

    •  I work on Ft Hood... (0+ / 0-)

Only the MPs "open carry." Pretty sure the other soldiers' weapons are kept in an armory unless they're out on the range qualifying. I'm just a civilian drone, though - what do I know?

Additionally, Hassan shot up the Soldier Readiness Center - one of the many stops for troops who are deploying. The soldiers there were carrying sheaves of paper, not weapons.

PS - the sonuvabitch STILL hasn't been prosecuted for that crime. The gears of justice grind exceedingly slowly - and apparently get gummed up by a simple man's beard. -_-
