  •  Yes, I was thinking about the difference between (27+ / 0-)

him and Olbermann whom I love, but there is something about the quiet rage, the control, while eviscerating the opponent with highly rational arguments that is awesomely powerful. I also think it is more persuasive than an angry shout-down.

I love Lawrence's show. I believe it is his high moral principles that draw me to him. Sure, at times he can be too much, but that's because of his moral passion and I have to love the guy for that. Too often we see the despicable opposite.

So glad this diary is calling attention to that righteous calling out of the NRA psycho, Wayne, because watching that speech he gave yesterday morning was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in watching any speech. He was so very very creepy, odd and evil that I needed to know others felt the same!

On Dec. 8, 1941 (the day after Pearl Harbor) Great Britain fulfilled it's promise to FDR and declared war on Japan. (Indeed, they beat Congress by several hours!)

The message Churchill sent to the Japanese Ambassador read:
        Foreign Office, December 8
        "Sir,
On the evening of December 7th His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom learned that Japanese forces without previous warning either in the form of a declaration of war or of an ultimatum with a conditional declaration of war had attempted a landing on the coast of Malaya and bombed Singapore and Hong Kong.
In view of these wanton acts of unprovoked aggression committed in flagrant violation of International Law and particularly of Article I of the Third Hague Convention relative to the opening of hostilities, to which both Japan and the United Kingdom are parties, His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo has been instructed to inform the Imperial Japanese Government in the name of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom that a state of war exists between our two countries.
I have the honour to be, with high consideration,
                                               Sir,
                                      Your obedient servant,

                                            Winston S. Churchill"

Churchill added: "Some people did not like this ceremonial style. But after all when you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."

        Now THERE's a dignified response!

        Shalom.
