    seems strange.

He was certainly effective at getting conservative projects financed. But he was neither a wacko nor one of the gun nuts nor an anti-tax freak.

He was also anti-racist. And very effective at getting racists pushed out the doors of every one of the organizations where he was active.

We can disagree with Weyrich's positions and his superficiality. Character ??? Please leave off on that one.

day in 1980, with fliers saying a sitting senator had voted to allow medical experiments on live aborted fetuses is your idea of "character"?  Have at it. There never was such a bill/vote, and if there had been, this senator would never have voted for it.  Spreading an absolute LIE, pulled out of the blue? Timing it so there was no opportunity for the senator to respond? What exemplary character.

I didn't say he was a gun nut.  I am saying he was uncivil, rude and I'll add liar to his list of character attributes.  He was one of the engines churning the extremist Christian wackos into a frenzy.

Weirich is only one of the people who contributed to today's ugly atmosphere. There are many.
