  •  You're right about the volunteers, but (8+ / 0-)

OFA had 3000 paid workers. They worked very hard -- 16-hour days for months, not just because they were paid; they were dedicated to the cause. The tens of thousands of volunteers also worked hard and effectively, thanks to a well-thought-out training system. It was more than just one-on-one contacts; it was multiple contacts until we knew they voted.

I had a fellowship with the campaign and I ran the online calling system for the 4th largest California phonebank. We were doing tons of contacts!

People on the phone kept saying, "You've called me alot." We kept reminding them to vote. It was an extremely tested and well planned system to make sure every Obama supporter went to the polls.

We even started running out of lists too on some days. It was lots of hard work (I bet a few Republicans are surprised that we Democrats could work so hard,) but it paid off and we won!

There were 400 Obama supporters making the phonecalls from my phonebank staging location on Election Day.
