Just the stark, bare statistics, minus our feelings.  [Maybe a photo, if the family releases one, but no emotive words.]

It's like a gut punch to see stats minus what we're feeling, minus an insensitive "reporter" imagining how the family or friends feel, or - like certain TV "reporters" and "personalities" love to do - putting words in the mouths of stunned and shocked survivors and remaining family and friends, and suddenly the words that define the tragedy are what the "reporter" said as a substitute for the blank stare of the person being interviewed (the "reporter" has a time limit to get to a commercial so has to hurry the interview along, so fills in the stunned silence with their own words).

Exploiting emotions is what Moronic Media is good at.

Put in stats only, no attempt at emotional exploitation to sway minds about gun control or lack thereof.  It remains for the stark numbers and bare statistics to do the sucker-punching as the number gets larger and larger.

No amount of emotional exploitation can help the grieving family and friends anyway; words don't make sense for a few weeks or months after a senseless death by violence.  There are no words to explain or understand why, and sometimes years later emotional words still don't make sense.  Better to leave it at stark statistics and essential details.  Name, date, location, type of weapon & ammo, whether or not it was murder or suicide, and relationship of the shooter to the deceased.

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor

A number and a link to a news story of the most recent death is all you would need. Make the number a link to a list of news stories covering the deaths of all of the people that make up that number. It doesn't take up all that much space and it doesn't make any value judgements. The tone should be the same as the IGTNT diaries.
