I'm sorry MB, but sometimes you have to really fight for what you believe in.

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.
    •  That's "fighting for what you believe in"? (4+ / 0-)

Beating someone up because he said something that offended you?

      •  "ran his mouth" is vernacular... (5+ / 0-)'s considered the polite way of saying that the person in question did quite a bit more than "say something that offended someone".

Perhaps you've never heard the term "fighting words". The term actually has a few legal implications.

F'r instance, from the simple wiki link...

The fighting words doctrine, in United States constitutional law, is a limitation to freedom of speech as protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In 1942, the U.S. Supreme Court established the doctrine by a 9-0 decision in Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire. It held that "insulting or 'fighting words,' those that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace" are among the "well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech the prevention and punishment of [which] ... have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem."

Keeping them away, I agree with eeff.

I have no idea how the west too bunch is still alive, to be honest. If it was my kid come home in a casket at 19 and these bastards were outside, I promise you I would make it my job to not only shut them up but to snuff them out permanently -whenever it happened is when it would happen but happen it would.

So yeah, the guy got his ass beat. As he should. So what? He deserves to be gone. He should consider an ass beating a lucky break.

Should no one stop me from beating your ass?  I'm the judge and the jury.  I'm right and you're wrong.  Shut up and take your beating and crawl home because this is America?

        •  That's how they make their money (3+ / 0-)

Suing people for infringing on their "rights."  They've fought it all the way to the Supreme Court; they've taken people's homes and businesses.

It's a business plan.  Sick one, yeah.  But it works, at least to a degree.  A lot of them are lawyers.  Toxic, depraved shtick, but that's what they do.  It really doesn't make sense until you understand the scam side of it, but then it all makes sense.
