Here are the 10 newest registered users on dKos.  Hope to see their comments and diaries here soon!  (If they're not all spammers.)

    Bikerentals (user #645,482: spammer)
    gundam018 (user #645,484: spammer)
    franeave17 (user #645,485: spammer)
    danyseos (user #645,488: spammer)

And since our society is obsessed with numbers that end in a lot of zeros as milestones, here's a special shoutout to user #645,400: spencercains.

We've added 139 more users in the last 24 hours.  This is a continuation going back to May where we've been absolutely flooded with new users.  I'm pretty sure almost all of these new users are spammers or bots.  While the rate had been getting faster, it seems they suddenly started slowing down right when Hurricane Sandy hit.  It slowed down to under 1,000 new users in a 24-hour period, and now we're back down to somewhat over 100 new users every 24 hours or so.  What were they planning?

And for your Diary Rescue music pleasure, I won't be around tomorrow night for obvious reasons, so here's Weird Al Yankovic's "Christmas at Ground Zero".  :-)

      •  Spammers, please go visit NRA. (7+ / 0-)

They're looking for people to enrol in their take-a-gun-fucking-anywhere campaign.

By the way, I've got a suggestion.  Since the NRA's proposal to post armed guards in every school will cost many billions of dollars, let's give them what they want provided they pay a hefty school safety tax on everything even remotely connected to guns or ammunition.

After all it's the batshit Tea Party that loves its guns and also wants to reduce the deficit.  It just wouldn't be right to make the rest of us pay for what the Tea Party/NRA wants, would it?

        Of course snot.

at it's pathetic peak, I believe the cost of the Iraq fiasco was BILLIONS per month, $25 BILLION, per the article below.

I wonder why that absurd and obscene cost is acceptable, but NOT the cost to provide security at our schools and universities??

The notion "we can't afford" more/better security is total nonsense. but I guess it fits in well with the "austerity" baloney now embraced by congress and the President.

"The cost is going up every month," says Linda Bilmes, an expert at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. She estimates the short-term, "running cost" has reached $12.5 billion a month. That's up from $4.4 billion a month in 2003. Add in long-term factors, such as the care of veterans and interest on federal debt incurred as a result of the war, and the cost piles up to $25 billion a month nowadays.
