  •  John is soon to be touring in California! (5+ / 0-)

Mostly in the Bay Area.  You can see the schedule here:

His annual concerts here in Chico I look forward to very much - they have gotten me through tough times now and then.  He is a truly superb entertainer, playing multiple instruments, singing well, and a wonderful story teller.

And, as a final aside, since WWI is the subject, at least somewhat, there is a diary I wrote last summer that I am rather proud of about that war:

Seeing the names of war dead, especially in small towns where people knew each other, must have been very moving. In the early '70s, I briefly visited France and was struck by the holes blown in the walls of old buildings and other un-repaired war damage. I was told the damage was left as a reminder so it wouldn't be repeated.

On the square in the small town where I grew up in the Arkansas Ozarks are also memorials to the war dead. It's grown large with the influx of retirees and compared to what you saw in France, and it seems garish -- too much, too uniform, too new ... or something.

No doubt it's important to remember the human toll -- especially if it we realize is is too great.
